2019: Spring Break Safari
WOW! Yet again, we were blown away by the support we received during our Spring Break Safari. Our kind donors, sponsors, and supporters helped us raised almost $75,000! We are excited to announce that because of this generous support, our new site on Main Street - the HUB - is officially open! The HUB is a space where KCCDD clients can continue developing daily living and vocational skills. It is also a "community connector," bringing a wide variety of resources to our area. 2018: Spring Break in the 70's
Your generosity and the support of our community allowed us to purchase TWO new vehicles to allow our clients more opportunities for community integration. Clients have used the vans for volunteer opportunities, as well as to take computer classes at Carl Sandburg College.
2017: Spring Break in Hollywood
Funds during this auction were raised to renovate our Seniors Unit. New paint, new floors, new ceiling…this unit got the works! Two clients from the Seniors Unit were asked to participate in the ribbon cutting to reopen their renovated unit. One of these clients has been with us since KCCDD opened as a school in the 1950′s, and the other is an original member of when the Seniors Unit first opened! As clients were getting settled into their new space, one cried a few tears of joy because she was so delighted.
2016: Spring Break on Treasure Island
Two covered walkways have been put up as a result of our 2016 auction so that our clients can be protected from the elements as they come in and out of our building. During a winter snowstorm in April, one client commented, “As you can see, it’s doing job!”
2015: Spring Break in the Wild, Wild West
What was once a tattered and old lunchroom has been completely transformed into a warm, welcoming space where clients can enjoy a meal with their friends! “Festive Fridays” happen frequently in this space, too – themed parties once a month full of lots of activities!
